Discovery School... An International School with A Unique Learning Environment

MISSION STATEMENT

Our mission is to provide a progressive U.S. style educational program in an international setting that prepares students for the challenges of life and future academic work. The school is committed to helping students develop basic skills, knowledge, and values required to be productive and active citizens in a democratic society and contribute to their community. The school wants to help develop literate and personally concerned citizens who are able to think and act rationally, compassionately, and productively while challenging their energies in ways that will contribute to improving the world, which we live. Our students should be academically prepared to successfully enter schools or universities in their home country.

The Discovery School is a private, non-profit school. It is fully accredited by the Honduran Ministry of Education, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and the United States Department of State. The Discovery School is wholly owned by the parents of the students. The governing body es an elected Board of Directors. Class size is limited to 15-18 students. The curriculum is based on the U.S. model with modifications for international students.

Our school offers dynamic, enthusiastic certified teachers, a student centered learning environment, international and cultural diversity, nurturing social dynamics and emphasis on the development of the whole person. Tolerance, respect for others, and problem solving skills are taught to all students.

Our focus at Discovery School is to develop the skill required for lifetime learning. In addition to learning core facts, students are required to demostrate skills in research, discussion, synthesis, testing, and the organization and presentation of ideas.
