AASCA Sportsmanship 2025: Celebrating Athletic Spirit and Unity

From April 23 to April 26, Discovery School proudly hosted the 2025 edition of AASCA Sportsmanship, welcoming over 350 student-athletes, coaches, and athletic directors from 10 prestigious schools across Central America. Representing Honduras were Discovery School, American School of Tegucigalpa, Mazapán School, Escuela Internacional Sampedrana, and Happy Days & Freedom. From neighboring countries, Escuela Americana and Escuela Panamericana joined from El Salvador; Marian Baker School and Country Day School from Costa Rica; and Colegio Decroly Americano from Guatemala.

The event brought together male and female teams for friendly competition in four sports disciplines: volleyball, soccer, basketball, and athletics—including cross country, 40 and 50-meter relays, and more. Over three thrilling days, the Polideportivo San José del Carmen was alive with excitement, camaraderie, and the unifying power of sports.

The inauguration ceremony set the tone for the event with a powerful keynote address by guest speaker Carlos Acosta. He shared an inspiring message about the value of sportsmanship, discipline, and the importance of taking care of our bodies through regular exercise. The opening also featured a traditional Honduran dance performance and engaging icebreaker activities that helped participants connect from day one.

Each day was filled with high-energy matches, track events, and moments of joy and teamwork that transcended competition. The closing ceremony was a fitting celebration of everyone’s efforts. Each school received a special banner and medals in recognition of their participation.

The event closed with a spectacular drum show, and Discovery School’s beloved Wolf mascot joined students on the dance floor in a joyful finale.

AASCA Sportsmanship 2025 was more than just a sports event—it was a celebration of youth, unity, and the spirit of fair play. Discovery School was honored to serve as host and looks forward to continuing to build strong regional connections through sports.
